FIN of Oslo is Eco Lux

Today we highlight Norwegian fashion house FIN. An eco-conscious company, FIN offers clothing made from not only organic cotton, but also fabrics such as wild silk (grown and harvested in the wild without harming the silk worm) and wild-grazing baby alpaca (a fabric that rivals cashmere). Preferred by eco-conscious celebs like Keira Knightly and Kate Bosworth this company is also carbon-neutral and runs its business according to Fair Trade principles. Best part: Their designs are fabulous. Simple and sophisticated with a mixture of classic lines and modern unique touches. Animal-friendly, eco-minded, and phenomenally designed – what more could you want from a couturier?!

We particularly love:

The organic cotton Paperbag Skirt which features a classic a-line pleated cut, and a unique high and flared-out waist.

The Lambs Wool Coat in an adorable baby-blue with collar tab and matching sleeves.

The retro and classic cut Slouchy Dress with Stitches which we feel Audrey Hepburn (philanthropist and fashionista) would have loved to slip on.

The Wild Handspun Silk Wrap Dress, a cute and flattering go-anywhere piece that makes you feel good inside and out.

Animal-Friendly Finds - October 2008

It’s October 1st, and we’re starting a new regular post - a monthly update of the most recent finds for animal-friendly accessories. Our standby favorites, like Stella McCartney and Marc by Marc Jacobs, will most likely always be on our list, but we will also endeavor to include other designers. Animal-friendly products from higher-end designers and retailers can be very difficult to find. So this is a call-out! If anyone out there knows of a designer or product to include, please let us know. Because not only do we want to get the word out, we also want to wear the darn thing!

A Note: As we do our research for animal-friendly products, it is often difficult to tell if an item is 100% vegan. For example, there may be leather trim or a silk lining that is not mentioned in the description. The items we list are therefore potentially 100% animal-friendly. And if they are not 100%, at least consist of very little animal-derived products, so those who are seeking mostly leather-free/silk-free goods can find our information useful. For those who wish to find completely vegetarian products, we recommend doing more research on the products we feature before purchasing them, such as contacting the manufacturer or fashion house directly.

Sorry for yet another J.Crew piece, but…

this is really really mention-worthy material. Love the roll neck collar, the 60’s vibe, and the deco print. Especially the deco print! Part of the J.Crew Collection, a line that sources from the same fabric supplier as Vera Wang and Chanel, this little number is yet another example of J.Crew stepping up to the plate when it comes to establishing a more luxe identity.

Italian Deco-Print Rollneck Silk Dress, $350 at J.Crew

Quick Pick

We love this jacket from J.Crew. A-line shape, adorable houndstooth, great color, and gorgeous carved buttons. What better way to keep warm this fall.

Italian Houndstooth Greta Jacket $375.00 at J.Crew

Those eyes, those sighs, those boots…

You know, for the past year we have been looking for over-the-knee boots everywhere. We love the way they look with anything from wool culottes to mini dresses to knee-length skirts. They can’t be skin tight, or super stilettoed - that would just make them look skanky. They’ve been so very hard to find, so we are definitely excited that they are popping up more and more on the runway and in stores. Below, we’ve included some runway favorites, as well as some more accessible pairs you may be interested in.
